Henry Morrison Flagler Museum

Whitehall, the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, is a 100,000 square foot Gilded Age Mansion that was a wedding gift to his wife, Mary Flagler. The 75-room mansion has served many purposes since its completion in 1902. The home served as a winter retreat for Mr. and Mrs. Flagler, where the couple entertained guests for nearly a decade. The mansion was bought by investors in 1917 and turned into a hotel. It operated as a hotel from 1925 to 1959. The hotel was then purchased by the nonprofit corporation, The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, founded by Flagler’s granddaughter Jean Matthews. Today Whitehall serves as a museum that allows visitors to explore and experience the art and culture of the Gilded Age.

Norton Museum Of Art

The Norton Museum of Art was founded by Ralph Norton and his wife, Elizabeth Norton. The Nortons were collectors of art and decorated the halls of their home with some of the finest art pieces to come out of the Americas and Europe. Their art collection became quite sizeable to the point that it made sense for them to establish their own art museum. In 1940 they built the Norton Gallery and School of Art. The Museum has a permanent collection of over 8000 pieces. The gallery is divided into five thematic departments: European Art, American Art, Chinese Art, Contemporary Art, and Photography. Today the Norton Museum of Art is the largest art museum in Florida.
