Hollywood has some of Broward County's oldest housing stock, and all of it now falls under High-Velocity Hurricane Zone requirements — the strictest roofing code in Florida, covering only Broward and Miami-Dade.
OUR SERVICES
Homes in Hollywood Lakes and the older sections near downtown were built decades before current wind standards existed. Bringing one of those roofs up to code means work at the deck, not just a new covering — and that's where the real difference in storm performance comes from.
Leaks at parapets, flat-roof seams, chimneys and porch transitions on older Hollywood homes, plus corroded flashing near the beach.

FAQ's
Questions from Hollywood homeowners about HVHZ rules, older homes and beachside exposure.
Largely because of HVHZ requirements. Broward and Miami-Dade are the only Florida counties in the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, which mandates specially approved products, tested fastening methods, deck re-nailing and a secondary water barrier on re-roofs. It costs more and performs substantially better in a storm.
It's a sealed layer applied directly to the roof deck beneath the underlayment, so that if wind removes the covering in a storm the deck still sheds water. In the HVHZ it's required on re-roofs, and it's one of the most effective protections available for an older Hollywood home.
Often it needs attention. Older decks may have board sheathing, inadequate fastening by current standards, or rot at the edges. Sound sections usually stay; the rest is replaced and the whole deck is re-nailed to current code as part of a compliant re-roof.
