Fort Lauderdale sits inside Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, a designation that covers only Broward and Miami-Dade counties and sets the strictest roofing requirements in the state.
OUR SERVICES
HVHZ status isn't a marketing detail — it changes which products may legally be installed, how they must be fastened, and what has to happen at the deck before the new roof goes on. On top of that, a city built around 165 miles of canals means a great many roofs here sit directly on saltwater.
HVHZ-compliant re-roofs across Victoria Park, Rio Vista, Coral Ridge and the waterfront neighborhoods, in tile, metal or membrane depending on the house.

FAQ's
Questions from Fort Lauderdale property owners about HVHZ requirements, flat roofs and canal exposure.
Broward and Miami-Dade are the only two Florida counties in the HVHZ, and it carries the state's most demanding roofing requirements. Products must hold approvals valid in the zone, installation must follow the tested fastening method, and re-roofs require a secondary water barrier over a deck fastened to current standards. It raises the cost somewhat and raises storm performance considerably.
Because they almost always fail at details rather than in the open field — drains that pond, seams that split, parapet and wall flashings that were never detailed correctly. Repeated patching of the symptom doesn't hold. Fixing the detail does.
Yes. Saltwater exposure corrodes fasteners, flashing and drip edge years before the roof covering itself wears out. On canal-front and Intracoastal homes we upgrade to stainless or hot-dip hardware, which is usually what determines whether the roof reaches its expected service life.
