Miami-Dade County sets the roofing standard the rest of Florida measures itself against. Products here carry a Miami-Dade Notice of Acceptance, and installation follows the tested method exactly.
OUR SERVICES
The county's approval system exists because Miami-Dade and Broward are the only two counties in Florida's High-Velocity Hurricane Zone. For a homeowner it means a shorter list of legal products, stricter fastening, deck re-nailing and a sealed secondary water barrier on every re-roof — and considerably better odds in a storm.
Leaks at flat-roof seams and parapets, cracked or slipped tile, and failed flashing at walls and penetrations — traced to the actual source.

FAQ's
Questions from Miami property owners about NOA approvals, flat roofs and HVHZ requirements.
A Notice of Acceptance is Miami-Dade County's product approval, confirming a roofing system has been tested to the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone standard and specifying exactly how it must be installed. Products used here need that approval or an equivalent valid in the HVHZ, and installation has to follow the method it describes.
Because the leak is almost certainly at a detail rather than in the field — a drain, a seam, a parapet or a penetration. Patching the surface repeatedly treats the symptom. Rebuilding the detail correctly is what stops it.
Concrete or clay tile can run 30 to 50 years on the field material, though the underlayment beneath usually needs replacing at 15 to 25. Flat and low-slope membrane systems typically run 15 to 25 depending on drainage. Intense UV and coastal exposure push all of these toward the lower end.
